Founded in 2019 by Italian-Indian designer and entrepreneur Eileen Akbaraly, Made For A Woman is the first women-led and women-centered responsible fashion brand in Madagascar.
A trailblazer for sustainability and impact in the fashion industry, Made For A Woman redefines the global luxury landscape through its commitment to radical transparency, authenticity, and inclusive storytelling, transforming the lives of hundreds of people in Madagascar’s most vulnerable communities.
This innovative social entrepreneurship project gives an invaluable platform to the artistic savoir faire and cultural heritage of Malagasy artisans, using locally-sourced natural materials, especially raphia, to create unique accessories and ready-to-wear pieces that have become synonymous with artisanal couture.
Eileen’s combination of dedication to social responsibility and creative design has caught the attention of the public, the press, and the industry, garnering collaborations with international luxury fashion houses – including Chloé and Fendi – and luxury retailers, like Modes, as well as several awards for her commitment to sustainability and innovation.
This summer, Made For A Woman is proud to unveil a unique capsule collection, designed exclusively for Modes for the second consecutive year. Each piece in the collection is carefully handmade in Made For A Woman’s atelier by skilled artisans, and reflects a shared vision of fashion as an instrument for positive change and impact.
