MODES partnered with Vogue this year for “Fashion. Forward.,” a talk event held at Munich’s Pinakotek der Moderne, where a high-profile panel addressed the future and impact of German fashion.
Condé Nast powerhouses Anna Wintour and Edward Enninful took the podium alongside Vogue Germany head of editorial content Kerstin Weng, who stressed the importance of global visibility for regional fashion talent. MODES was an apt partner for the event, having recently announced the launch of MODES People: an initiative dedicated to supporting the growth of emerging brands and creatives.
Work by designers from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland – including Florentina Leitner, Kasia Kucharska, Gerrit Jacob, and Johannes Warnke – was featured in an exhibition conceived with creative support from Reference Studios, the Berlin PR agency-cum-cultural think tank founded by Mumi Haiati in 2017.
Alongside Wintour and Enninful, the red carpet featured appearances from fitness-meets-fashion trendsetter Caro Daur, actress and presenter (and occasional astrologer) Palina Rajinski, MODES team members including CEO Aldo Carpinteri, General Manager Alberto Cantoni, Digital & Business Development Director Jan Radolec, and E-commerce Manager Stefania Carpinteri, and representatives of a number of German beauty and fashion brands – large and small, heritage and emerging. After the talk, attendees gathered for food and cocktails and food at Munich’s iconic Schumann’s Bar am Hofgarten, where summery statement outfits dominated the June evening.
